Bael fruit for diabetes

Bael fruit is good for diabetes and people have been consuming it for decades in some south Asian countries. The leaf extract is more helpful in treating diabetes than the bael fruit pulp.

Bael, also written as bel is a holly plant found in India, Indonesia, Malasia, Thailand, and other Southeastern countries. Its scientific name is Aegle marmelos Lin.

Some of the major chemicals found in Bael are marmelosin, luvangetin, psoralen, tannins, marmin.

Bael fruit is nutritious and contains beta-carotene, protein, riboflavin and vitamin C, vitamin B1 and B2, thiamine. Scoop the pulp with a spoon and and have with milk.

Bael is beneficial in other diseases like- Bael fruit juice is very effective in diarrhea(Bilvadi qwath pharmacopeial preparation). Bael fruit dry powder is effective in constipation.

It also has antimicrobial, antiviral, radioprotective, anticancer, chemopreventive, antipyretic, ulcer healing, antigenotoxic, diuretic, antifertility and anti-inflammatory properties[1].

Bael juice for diabetes

Juice from Bael leaves is more effective in diabetes than juice from Bael fruit. A study was conducted in which Bael leaves extract was given to one of the three groups of diabetic albino rats. After the study, it was found that the group given bael leaves extract showed a significantly decreased glucose levels [2].

How do you prepare bael juice?

As mentioned above Bael leaf juice is more effective in treating diabetes than the bael fruit juice. Just pluck few young leaves and extract the juice out of them, and then add little rock salt and jaggery to make it taste better. Bael juice can be prepared from fresh ripen bael pulp too. You can add some jaggery to make it flavorful.

How to consume bael juice to cure diabetes: 30 to 50 ml of bael juice should be taken in the morning at an empty stomach.

Bael powder for diabetes

Bael powder also has the potential to treat diabetes. Bael powder is available to buy from the online market. You can also prepare bael powder at home by drying the pulp and grinding it. The ground powder should be kept in an airtight jar. Take it with honey when you suffer from the loose stool.
